Before existence, at the birth of existence, and for eternity after existence, there always was, always has been, and forever will be, The Tree.  The Tree is the foundation of all life; everything that has a place in the universe first sprouted form its empyrean branches.  The canopy of The Tree sways in the breezes of the heavens, while its roots dangle into the vast universe below.  There are also guardians who watch over the tree: spirits who can take any form they wish, but their favorite form to take is that of a panda.  Try to imagine small pandas floating around a great tree, each with a tiny set of wings.  These small spirits, let us call them panda faeries, glide and flutter among the branches, hovering here and there to check up on things.  They also control the seasons of The Tree, which are not always in the same order we experience them in.
Our Earth, along with every other planet in the universe, began as a fruit upon The Tree.  When a fruit is ripe, it falls from The Tree into the universe beneath it.  Most planets become ripe in the summer.  The planets in our solar system, including Earth, all became ripe during the same summer.  All of them fell on their own, without help from the panda faeries, all of them, that is, except Earth.  It was ripe, but would not fall on its own.  The panda faeries noticed this and decided to help it along a bit.  As they poked and prodded it, trying to make it fall, they became aware of the fact that it was a bit different than the other planet fruits had been.  The others had been either solid through and through, or composed of a vapory substance.  But Earth seemed to be full of liquid.  The panda faeries heard a sloshing sound coming from within it.  However, they paid no mind to this and continued to try and knock it down, eventually succeeding.  They watched as it fell, going nearer and nearer to the other planets, but were shocked to see that when it landed, the outer shell of the Earth shattered, and the water beneath it burst forth. Thus, the continents of Earth, as well as the oceans, were formed.
After the summer of Earth’s descent, the panda faeries decided The Tree would next experience winter.  Upon their decision, the green leaves remaining on The Tree scattered into the heavens, and The Tree was left bare in the icy chill of a heavenly winter.  Occasionally during this season, the harsh winter winds would blow and tiny twigs would snap off and fall into the universe.  Some of these twigs managed to land upon the Earth, and became the many trees and shrubs and flowers that we now know.  Great drifts of snow would accumulate upon the branches of The Tree, and this too would sometimes fall into the universe, either because of the wind, or because the panda faeries were throwing it at each other.  Two clumps just happened to smack into opposite ends of Earth, and the North and South Poles were created.
When the panda faeries got sick of winter, they changed the season to spring.  Instantly, buds, new leaves, and vibrant flowers exploded from every inch of The Tree’s branches.  The flowers came in all shapes and sizes, and were the most beautiful colors that could ever be imagined.  With each breath of heavenly spring air that blew through the branches, petals from the bright flowers would scatter and twirl away into the distant corners of the cosmos.  In this way, the stars were born.  One flower, a brilliant, white-hot yellow one, remained in one piece when the spring gusts plucked it from The Tree.  It slowly spiraled down and landed in the very center of the cluster of planets containing Earth, and became our sun.
Once all the flowers had descended, and The Tree was simply green once more, the panda faeries were ready for autumn.  Within seconds, a marvelous transformation occurred: the various tints and shades of greens melted into hundreds of reds, oranges, yellows, browns, and golds.  In this state, The Tree appeared to be a great blazing fireball.  Nippy autumn gust would constantly snap leaves off and whip them down into space.  The autumn leaves tumbled down and landed on Earth.  These leaves transformed into the creatures that inhabit the planet.  Elephants, doves, turtles, crickets, fish, everything, and yes, even humans.
That is the story of how our Earth came to be.  The Tree produced the Earth, and gave it all it needed to flourish on its own.
